We’re working toward 611 items for 611, and we’re opening up a new way for people to help keep the shelves stocked.
Become a 611 Block Captain and take 611 beyond our doors.
Block Captains invite the people around them to collect pantry staples and high-need essentials for 611. Your circle might be your neighbors, friends, family, classmates, coworkers, teammates, or anyone else you want to invite into what’s happening at the Collective.
This is about connection. Someone brings something to you. You bring it to 611. Someone else shops at 611. Someone else volunteers. Someone else sees the sign in your window and decides to join in.
That’s intraconnection in action.
We’ll Give You the Materials
When you sign up to become a Block Captain, you’ll receive a packet with everything you need to get started:
A current Pantry List
A High-Need Essentials List
A Donation Flyer to share
An 11 × 17 laminated Block sign for your collection location
Your packet will be available for pickup at 611 Collective during our designated drop-off hours.
From there, you decide what makes sense for your circle.
There’s no minimum collection. There’s no required size for your group. There’s no particular way you have to organize it.
Just invite people in.
What We Need
Please use the current Pantry List and High-Need Essentials List when collecting so your donations go directly toward what 611 needs. All items must be:
Unopened. Unused. Unexpired.
For hygiene and personal care products, items must be full-sized, not travel-sized.
We’re Building a Map
We’re also creating a 611 Block Captain Map to show where people are collecting for 611.
When you sign up, we’ll ask for your street name and hundred block so we can add your collection area to the map. You will not need to provide your exact address.
And Block Captains aren’t limited to one neighborhood or one age group. High school students, younger kids, and adults can all be Block Captains.
You might be collecting on your block. You might be collecting at school. You might have a bin at work. You might simply ask a handful of people you know to bring something the next time they see you.
However it happens, it creates another connection to 611.

We have a big goal: 611 items for 611.
One person can start a collection. A few people can turn it into something bigger. And 611 Block Captains can help us build a network that reaches far beyond our four walls.
