Sorting & Organizing Volunteers prepare donations for the Free Store by sorting items by category, size, and condition, organizing shelves and racks, restocking the sales floor, and helping keep the space clean, organized, and ready for shopping. This volunteer opportunity also includes Store Care and Haul Away tasks that help keep 611 running smoothly.
As a thank you for your time, Sorting & Organizing Volunteers are invited to shop the Free Store after their shift and receive available household essentials. Food boxes are reserved for scheduled Free Store shopping appointments.
Every item on the shelves has passed through the hands of a Sorting & Organizing Volunteer. It's one of the most important ways to help keep 611 going.
Shopping Volunteers help create a welcoming shopping experience and keep the Free Store running smoothly by greeting shoppers, assisting as needed, bagging items, and resetting the space between appointments.
As a thank you for your time, you'll enjoy a Free Store shopping experience after your shift and may request available household essentials.
Please note that food is reserved for Free Store shopping appointments. If you'd like to receive food, you're welcome to schedule a shopping appointment. You may choose the same time as your volunteer shift.
Shopping Volunteers are an important part of 611. Your time helps make every shopping day possible.
611 is looking for volunteers to help with fundraising events, community dinners, socials, Lucky Find days, and other special events throughout the year.
Tasks may include: setup, cleanup, organizing, restocking, hospitality, moving tables, helping guests, resetting the space, and helping things run smoothly during events.
This volunteer role is separate from our regular free store support shifts and does not include shopping access.
