Sorting Help Needed!
Hey 611 Friends! Lots of you are wondering when we'll be accepting clothing contributions again. We hope it'll be soon, but we need your help!
Our clothing storage is completely full, and before we can accept more clothing, we need to process the clothing we already have.
Right now, what we need are detail-oriented volunteers to help us process the clothing we already have.
This volunteer role requires more than a willingness to help.
Every item is checked for quality, every label is read, every size is verified, and every piece is sorted and stocked according to 611 standards. We've learned that when these details are overlooked, shoppers have a harder time finding what they came for, and other volunteers have to redo the work.
This shift isn't for everyone, and that's okay. We're looking for people who genuinely enjoy the meticulous details of organizing: reading every label, verifying every size, sorting by category, creating orderly racks, and folding with consistency.
If this sounds like you, we'd love to have you join us. August volunteer sign-ups are available on our website. The sooner we process the clothing we already have, the sooner we can begin accepting clothing contributions again.
In the meantime, we're asking for one more favor. Please only contribute clothing that is new or in excellent condition. Items that are stained, damaged, heavily worn, or otherwise not ready for our shopping floor take additional time to sort and remove, creating extra work for volunteers and taking up valuable space in our storage room.
We're also not accepting winter gear at this time, including coats, snow boots, hats, gloves, and scarves. Our seasonal storage is full, and we simply don't have room to store these items until winter.
We are still accepting household goods, kitchen items, home décor, accessories, knick-knacks, toiletries, cleaning supplies, pantry staples, and other essentials.
Thank you for helping us keep clothing moving from storage to the shopping floor. Every volunteer shift gets us one step closer to reopening clothing contributions.
